Home to around 350 species of plants including rare orchids, the park is at its most vibrant from December to April. It's also excellent for birdwatching year-round and offers opportunities to spot endangered highland mangabeys and other rare wildlife.
🌉 Daraja la Mungu ("God's Bridge")
This naturally occurring stone bridge spanning the Kiwira River is a geological marvel formed around 18 million years ago. It's located about 36 km from Mbeya city near Tukuyu town. Nearby is Kijungu ("cooking pot"), a naturally formed pot-like landform where the river creates a whirlpool. The area is rich in local myths and legends told by the local Wanyakyusa people.
☄️ Mbozi Meteorite
One of the world's largest meteorites, weighing over 12 metric tonnes (over 25 tons), this celestial rock sits near Mbozi town about 70 km southwest of Mbeya. Unusually composed of 90.45% iron and 8.69% nickel, it's believed to have fallen from the sky about 1,000 years ago. Locals call it "Kimondo" in Kiswahili.
